Water Quality and Non Revenue Water

  • Water is pre -requisite for the sustenance of human kind. But due to mis management of available water resources we are facing a huge water crisis in India.According to the Composite Water Management Index (CWMI) report released by the Niti Aayog in 2018, 21 major cities (Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and others) are racing to reach zero groundwater levels by 2020, affecting access for 100 million people. Lack of proper maintenance of existing infrastructure causes losses of almost  40 %of piped water in urban areas. In our country where the government is trying to lay underground pipelines to distribute water to far off rural places a monitoring system is required to ensure water quality like pH and turbidity because 21% of communicable diseases are water borne.

  • Water scarcity problem and to ensure water quality.

In rural area where people are not much educated and they do not know the effect of pH, turbidity on their health.

In urban setting where majority of population is relying on piped water and leakage in underground water pipeline leads to wastage of huge amount of fresh water.
