Hostel is an integral part of a student's life. But without an automation system, things can turn cumbersome and ineffective. For instance, if the tube light of a certain room is not working and an electrician is required for the same. Manually going to the warden and complaining about this and then taking updates from her leads to wastage of time and requires a lot of effort. This results in ineffective management. Consider another scenario wherein a hosteler has to take a leave for which she has to get the leave booklet signed by the warden. Now the person has to wait till the warden gets spare time. This leads to ineffectiveness and in some emergency situations could cause problems for the hosteler. Therefore having an application proves to be a boon for the effective running of the hostel as it will save time as well as the paperwork involved.

My team and I interviewed our college hostellers about the above stated problem and asked them the following questions -
1)What is the process for applying for a leave in hostel?
2)What are the problems related to such a system?
3)Is there anything that will solve the problem?
4)if yes, What is the alternative?
5)Will an application will solve these problems and would you use it?
6)Do you know any other college where it is implemented?
7)Can you recall another problem that can be solved from this application?

The existing procedure of getting a leave includes getting the leave booklet signed by the warden,for any maintenance related issue one has to physically complaint to the warden.Our application would change things as everything would be automated.The hostlers would be able to enter the dates for which they require a leave or permissions for late nights and the warden would be able to see the leave requests in the application itself and she can allow them for the leave through a click.This makes it easier for the hostlers to get last minute permissions and they do not have to find the warden for this thing.There would be a separate tab for filing a complaint for any maintenance related issue.The hostlers can enter their room number and the detailed problem that they are facing.The warden will get an update on the complaints and can take actions accordingly.Also as all the complaints are available in the application in a detailed manner,the warden would not forget about the problems
