  • Every household produces on an average 2.2 Kg of waste per day. This waste is not segregated as reusable or recyclable. Most of the households does not have knowledge on how to reuse or recycle their waste. This increases the problem of waste disposal and it not only has short term effects like increasing the waste in the landfills but also has devastating long term effects of environmental pollution.

  • Men, Women, Children, Teenagers residing in urban areas who do not dispose their waste smartly and end up polluting the environment, residential communities who do not practice scrap collection, etc.

  • Most of the households don't have a proper system to dispose their waste. They face many problems while disposing, such as not knowing how to segregate, not having proper resources to reuse or recycle the waste, or they don't know how to reduce or reuse their waste. This just results in all the waste ending up in landfills which adds up in increasing the pollution.

To make an effort in helping the people reduce their waste, we propose a mobile application which can help people in segregating their waste, provide them ways to reuse their waste and also to provide the users contacts of those organisations which implement recycling. Thus, if a user has some waste, for example a plastic bottle, She/He can get the following options, optimised specially for that kind of waste-

    • Reduce- Here user can learn ways on using alternative ways to reduce their waste. There will be different ways which users can browse and can choose the ones suitable for them. They can also chat with the experts for solutions and suggestions. If the user buys from any of the sites which sell environmental friendly products, she/he will get reward points.
    • Reuse- Here user can browse the ways to reuse their waste. It will be optimised according to the type of waste generated. Users can also contribute by uploading their new ways to reuse a particular item. In return to that, they can get the reward points.
    • Recycle- Here users can get details of the scrap collectors in their respective areas who will collect the waste from their houses for recycling and in return, the users can get reward points for that. If the user engages in recycling through our app, the user will get reward points.

Reward point system will work on the basis that the users with appropriate amount of points, will be able to go to some selected shops available in our app to purchase environment friendly products from those points.

Users will thus be able to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste, which will help them in saving money and also help in reducing the overall waste generated from a household.
