Objectives

  • Create a spectrum of colors using an RGB LED.

Things

For this experiment, you will need

  1. Arduino Uno
  2. Breadboard
  3. RGB LED (common cathode)
  4. Jumper cables (Male to Male)

Let’s begin!

RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue. The combination of these three colors can produce over 16 million hues.

An LED having the ability to glow Red, Blue, and Green is called an RGB LED. There are two different types of RGB LEDs namely common cathode RGB LED and common anode RGB LED.

Interfacing Common cathode (-) RGB LED with Arduino

The RGB LED we are using here is a common cathode RGB LED. The RGB LED is connected to the Arduino using breadboard and jumper cables. The circuit diagram is as below.

Now, let’s make the RGB LED cycle through the entire color spectrum.
