Water Quality and Non Revenue Water

Team Members: N/A Problem Statement: Water is pre -requisite for the sustenance of human kind. But due to mis management of available water resources we are facing a huge water crisis in India.According to the Composite Water Management Index (CWMI) report released by the Niti Aayog in 2018, 21 major cities (Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and others) are racing to reach zero groundwater levels by 2020, affecting access for 100 million people. Lack of proper maintenance of existing infrastructure causes losses of almost  40 %of piped water in urban areas. In our country where the government is trying to lay underground pipelines to distribute water to far off rural places a monitoring system is required to ensure water quality like pH and turbidity because 21% of communicable diseases are water borne.     User Persona: Water scarcity problem and to ensure water quality. In rural area where people are not much educated and they do not know the effect of pH, turbidity on their health. In urban setting where majority of population is relying on piped water and leakage in underground water pipeline leads to wastage of huge amount of fresh water.

Although introduction of clustering techniques has the potential to reduce energy consumption and extend the lifetime of the network by decreasing the contention through either power control or node scheduling, scalability remains an issue. Therefore, the optimality of the cluster size still needs to be thoroughly investigated. In this paper, a single cluster head (CH) queuing model is presented. Using an event based simulation tool (Castalia), key issues that affect the practical deployment of clustering techniques in wireless sensor networks are analysed.
