Smart Preventive Surveillance

Team Members: Sreelakshmi T P, Aashika Singh, Khushboo Singh, Pragati Kumari Problem Statement: Burglary is a rather widespread crime with more than 2 million offenses recorded by the police annually and more than 3 million reported in victimization surveys. The gap between these measures is rather large because burglaries are rarely solved. Robberies and burglaries are usually quick and are over and done with before anyone knows anything is missing.  Surveys shows that most of these cases happen at unoccupied sites. Although there are many security systems nowadays, most of them has limitations. The existing surveillance systems can be helpful after the crime/theft has been over. But as its always said "Prevention is better than cure", a system to prevent the burglary is most needed. Unless the perpetrator is caught at the scene of the crime, these types of crimes are very difficult to be solved. Economical surveillance systems efficient in preventing crimes is the need of the hour. User Persona: Almost everyone, be it rich or poor, residing in urban or rural area, are affected by this problem. Yet, only 83%  of waste is collected. According to the World bank, India's daily waste generation will reach 377,000 tonnes by 2025. Most noticeably, urban waste has significant effects on our health and environment.  The main challenge faced by common people in India regarding waste management is lack of  a proper system to dispose off waste generated daily. Although door-to-door collection of household waste has been implemented, there is no way to perform a regular check whether the waste collection is done regularly in every household. This decreases the efficiency of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Also, if there is a function in our home, there is no way to dispose the large quantities of waste generated. Neither do we have an efficient portal to submit our feedback and register our complaints. Dealing with the daily waste generation can significantly reduce the waste management problems in the country.  User Persona: Urban residential communities who burn their garbage and people who do not segregate the waste contributes to the problem of waste management.  Small children are the most…
